The recurring story starring Russell Westbrook as the new-age Oscar Robertson added a new chapter Thursday night in a 118-109 win over the Cavaliers.
Westbrook earned his 26th triple-double of the season by scoring 29 points with 12 rebounds and 11 assists. He now has the third-most triple-doubles in one season in NBA history. Robertson has the most with 41
In true Westbrook fashion, he flirted with a quadruple-double with turnovers (seven), and he shot miserably from the field (11 of 27). However, he is putting up special numbers on a nightly basis while leading Oklahoma City without a complementary star.
Victor Oladipo and Steven Adams are two players who are trying to nudge their way into that status. Oladipo, who starting to become a perfect backcourt partner to Westbrook, scored 23 points with seven rebounds. Adams had 20 points and 13 rebounds.
Kyrie Irving led the Cavaliers with 28 points. Kevin Love, who was highly-questionable to suit up, added 15 points and 12 rebounds.
LeBron James mustered just 18 points and seven assists. He also missed two dunk attempts. It was a forgettable night for the King.
Stud of the night
Mavericks swingman Harrison Barnes scored 31 points with four rebounds to lead Dallas to a 112-105 overtime win over the Jazz. After years of being the fifth wheel for the Warriors, Barnes is proving he can lead a team at the highest level.
Dud of the night
Mario Hezonja drew a start for the Magic Thursday, but he scored just three points in a 112-111 loss to the 76ers. Though he was picked No. 5 in the 2015 draft, Hezonja has struggled to transfer his European skills over the the NBA game.
