Ancient ruins, discovered in the heart of the Pacific Ocean, can be the cities of the legendary Atlantis and the scientists themselves say this. The city of Nan Mandel is on the island of Pohnpei, one of the most remote islands of the ocean.
Archaeologists have found out that earlier this island was inhabited by an ancient Asian civilization, about which practically no information was preserved. The ruins of the city look very odd in this place: why should someone build a policy of such dimensions in perfect distance from other civilization?
Mark McCoy, an anthropologist at the Southern Methodist University of Texas, was able to analyze coral jewelry from a tomb supposedly owned by one of the city’s chiefs.
It turned out that the city was built around 1800 BC. Most likely, it really was the capital of an ancient civilization, but where, in that case, are all the other settlements? The scientists can not answer this question yet.
